Heping island
Heping Island is located on an island in the East China Sea, located in Zhongzheng District, Keelung City. It is the closest island to Taiwan, only 75 meters apart. It is connected by Heping Bridge, the first cross-sea bridge in Taiwan. Its old name is Dajilong Island. In the 1870s, the name was changed to Heping Island to avoid confusion with "Xiaojilong Island" (today's Keelung Island) in the northeastern sea.
