A 61% primary vote share sounds high. But consider the total number of voters: how many abstained? How many voted against it out of desperation to prevent the others from winning? This "passive victory" doesn't represent the will of the people. If they were to hold a final election, allowing everyone to focus on finding fault with him, would he still be able to surpass 50%?
