What I've been reading this week: small essays, big feelings
I've been trying to spend less time scrolling and more time actually sitting with a piece of writing, and this week it paid off. I found a couple of long essays on Matters that I kept thinking about hours later — the kind that don't try to convince you of anything, they just show you how someone else sees the world. One was about a grandmother's kitchen and the way recipes change when you move countries. The other was a quiet reflection on walking the same route every day for a year. Neither had a big conclusion, and I liked that.
It made me realize how much I miss reading things that aren't optimized for speed. No listicles, no hot takes, just someone taking their time. I've started keeping a small note on my phone with lines I want to remember, which feels a bit old-fashioned but also kind of nice. If you do something similar, I'd love to hear how you keep track of what you read.
Anyway, no big point here. Just sharing. If you've come across anything lately that stuck with you, drop it below — I'm always looking for more to read.
