Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Rovman Powell took a miraculous one-handed catch to dismiss SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Heinrich Klaasen in the IPL 2026 match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday, May 3. As a result, Klaasen departed for just 11 runs off nine deliveries as the SunRisers lost their third wicket for 117.

The stunning catch was put on display in the 11th over. Cameron Green banged in a short delivery wide of off, and Klaasen went for a pull shot away from his body and ended up mistiming it towards the leg side. Powell, stationed at deep mid-wicket, ran towards his right and then leapt in the air, and luckily the ball stuck in his right hand. The West Indies player tumbled after falling to the ground but kept his fingers underneath the ball, and the TV umpires took a closer look before declaring it a fair catch. In the process, he broke his sunglasses.

The Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR fought back after SRH got off to a promising start in the IPL 2026 match. Varun Chakaravarthy took the prized scalp of Travis Head, dismissing him for 61 off 28 balls. As mentioned, Cameron Green removed Heinrich Klaasen while Kartik Tyagi got rid of Abhishek Sharma (15 off 10).

At the time of writing, SRH were 131/4 after 13 overs, with Ishan Kishan (34 off 24) and Aniket Verma (2 off 4) at the crease. Notably, the Pat Cummins-led side chased down 244 against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in their previous outing. With six victories in nine games, they are third in the IPL 2026 points table. A win would help them stretch their winning streak to five games in a row.

On the other hand, the Knight Riders have managed back-to-back wins in their last two games. Having said that, they are lying eighth in the points table after managing just two wins in eight matches, including a shared point with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a rain-abandoned fixture.

The two teams are locking horns for the second time this season. SRH beat KKR by 65 runs at Eden Gardens last month.
