Ten to One, and My Phone Is on the Wrong Side
The number that stuck with me this week was not a frame rate. It was a ratio: phones still running Android 11 outnumber phones on Android 17 by roughly ten to one.
I believe it, because my own shelf looks like that. Two handsets I keep for testing are years behind on updates, and on the bigger releases this season neither of them shows an install button anymore. The store page says the game exists. My phone says otherwise.
Players rarely see this part. A studio raises the minimum supported version to keep testing costs down, and a large slice of the audience quietly falls off. No error message, no warning, just a button that is not there.
So when a new title skips my older devices, I try not to call it laziness. I just wish the listing told me plainly which version is required, before I tap.
