In my 2023 live presentations, I referred to TESCREAL. I want to make sure I explain TESCREAL in the clearest way possible.

TESCREAL is a constellation of interlocking ideologies—Transhumanism, Extropianism, Singularitarianism, Cosmism, Rationalism, Effective Altruism, and Longtermism—that together form a unified quasi-religious cultic worldview about humanity, technology, and the future.

Though each of the terms within TESCREAL are often presented as separate movements, they function in practice as a single ideological system that treats humanity as an unfinished project to be redesigned through technology, guided by elite technical expertise, and oriented toward an abstract, post-human future rather than living human beings.

Human limits are framed as defects (mortality, longevity, injury), moral traditions as obstacles (societal rules, religious convictions etc), and democratic accountability as an inefficiency (tyranny and authoritarianism is preferred) , while ethical concern is shifted toward hypothetical future entities.

Despite its scientific and humanitarian rhetoric, TESCREAL operates as a religion (very similar to Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's concepts), complete with a salvation narrative centered on technological transcendence, an eschatology in the form of the Singularity or artificial superintelligence (and hence, the demand for accelerationsim) , and a priestly class of “rational” experts—ultimately redefining human value, agency, and moral responsibility without consent.

In 2023, venture capitalist Marc Andreessen released what he called the Techno-Optimist Manifesto—and if you read it closely, you can see exactly where this is headed. Critics like Jag Bhalla and Nathan J. Robinson have pointed to it as a textbook case of TESCREAL ideology in action: a glossy, upbeat pitch for a future that quietly redefines what it means to be human, who gets to decide that, and whether the rest of us even get a say.

This is where it gets serious: the TESCREAL bundle of ideologies isn’t some fringe theory—it holds enormous sway, especially inside the tech industry. Many of the most powerful names in Silicon Valley are either openly aligned with it or deeply invested in its techno-utopian vision of the future: Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Jaan Tallinn, Sam Altman, Dustin Moskovitz, Vitalik Buterin, Sam Bankman-Fried, Marc Andreessen—the list reads like a who’s who of modern tech power.

Now here’s the part you really need to pay attention to: collectively, these current and former billionaires have poured tens of billions of dollars into projects aligned with this worldview. According to critics and researchers tracking the movement, that money hasn’t just funded apps or startups—it has driven enormous amounts of research and development aimed squarely at creating artificial general intelligence. This isn’t accidental. This is coordinated belief backed by unprecedented capital, and it’s shaping the post-human, post-work, post-liberty future faster than most people realize.

If you’re looking for a single organization that has fully embraced TESCREAL as a guiding objective, you don’t have to search very far. Look straight at the World Economic Forum. And that’s exactly why so many of us are deeply disturbed by the recent efforts to polish its image and rehabilitate its reputation. This isn’t about misunderstanding or bad PR—it’s about people trying to normalize an agenda that fundamentally reshapes humanity, governance, and power, all while insisting there’s nothing to worry about.
