Aimlessly helpless, helplessly aimless.

I thought I had plenty of time
to squander
like the rich having money to burn
But I was wrong
Time is a veneer of gentility
so thin that it can’t
stand a candle blow
A drop of dew
on a morning so early
and chilly so
that a flickering thought in passing
makes the world tumble

I have changed so much
not the way I wanted, though
I thought there were people everywhere
like the sands or stars or hair
But I was wrong
There is nothing but
an empty sky
under which
a deserted jail
so dark and thick and heavy
that the pitch refuses to curdle

Such is my life and your life
and the lives of many more
aimlessly helpless
vice versa and a vicious cycle
This,
Is the status quo
